DULUTH, MN — Grandma’s Marathon attracts thousands every year.
Not just the athletes from all around the world, but the spectators who cheer from start to finish along the North Shore.
“I think coffee and watching is better, but yeah it’s always fun to see people doing it,” Sean Kempke, a spectator at Saturday’s race said. “It’s just always inspiring to see people take on the challenge of it.”
On Saturday, strangers showed encouragement, neighbors came out of their houses to watch, and friends and family came together to cheer on the athletes in this year’s race.
“It’s good for the community,” Duluth Resident Rachel Hobbs said. “It’s good for the tourism in Duluth and it shows people that we’re kind of a beautiful city and I mean we go all the way up to Two Harbors.”
